Steve, known as "Woody" in the sprinting world has been riding his Suzuki Hayabusa for 5 years.
Woody began in 2003 using a standard 1300cc engine with an extended swing arm (making the bike longer). He recorded a best time of 9.89 seconds reaching a speed of 151mph at London City Airport at the end of the 2003 season. He was also awarded 8 first place trophies for his efforts throughout the year.

In 2004 we increased the power of the engine with a big bore kit to 1400cc, also adding high lift cam shafts. With the addition of an air shifter and some sticky tyres, Woody had astounding success throughout the season achieving a new personal best of 9.41 seconds reaching a speed of 148mph at the famous Santa Pod Drag Race Circuit.
During 2004 Woody was approached for an all out top speed run to be held at Woodbridge Airfield in Norfolk by the 200mph Club with the sole aim of breaking 200mph. At the end of the day Woody officially broke the barrier with a staggering 203.79mph.

2005 - What a great year! Concentrating on the standing quarter sprint, Woody achieved his best time yet at Santa

Pod reducing his time to an impressive 9.18 seconds (@151mph). He also won the 'top six run off' at the Brighton Speed Trials with the most improved time of the day with a 9.66 second time.

The team decided to go for a big target in 2006 - an 8 second run, a difficult ambition for a normally aspirated bike. On the 14th July at a test and tune day at Santa Pod, Woody triumphantly pulled of an 8.94 second run!

2007 brought the addition of a 'lock-up' clutch and a 2-stage rev limiter to help with improving the launch. This presented a whole new learning curve and testing began with the Easter Thunderball and Summer Nationals at Santa Pod.

In 2008 it was decided to turbo charge the bike. In spite of set backs including Woody’s health and a particularly wet season, Woody still managed to achieve a personal best of 8.4 seconds at 173 mph.

2009 saw a mixture of success and setbacks with a well deserved win at Brighton and qualifying in Hockenheim. Building confidence with the additional power has been a major issue and we have overcome this by simply changing the seat construction so that the rider is held in place. We are determined to continue testing and to achieve our ultimate goal.
